The Origins of Freemasonry
Freemasonry is a centuries-old fraternity built on moral development, personal growth, and brotherhood. Its roots trace back to the medieval stonemasons’ guilds, evolving over time into a symbolic craft devoted to enlightenment, character, and service to others.
Why Three Burning Tapers?
When my Lodge replaced its electric lights with three burning tapers, it was far more than a change of fixtures. It was a return to our roots, a turn away from the cheap and convenient toward something higher and more worthy of our Fraternity. Those three small flames carried more meaning than any bulb ever could.
That moment shaped how I understand the Craft, and it gives this site its name. My hope is that the writings here might serve as that kind of turning point in someone else’s Masonic journey.
About Me
I’ve been a Master Mason for over fifteen years and have twice served as Worshipful Master under the Grand Lodge of Ohio. The Craft has been a long and central part of my life, and these reflections come out of that experience, not from a textbook.
My Purpose
I write to share our story, to inspire where I can, and to help carry the word of Freemasonry a little further. This is a space for reflection on the symbolism, traditions, and values that give the Fraternity its depth, and on what they ask of us in everyday life.
